Who We Are

Wesleyville Baptist Church is an American Baptist congregation located in the Borough of Wesleyville in Erie County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1890, our church has a rich history and longstanding presence in the community. For more than a century, we have sought to be a place where people can worship, grow in faith, serve others, and build meaningful relationships.

Our congregation is supported by a dedicated network of members who actively participate in the ministries, programs, and initiatives that make up the life of our church. We are grateful for our strong heritage and the trust and respect we have built within the Wesleyville community.

Worship & Sunday School

Each Sunday morning, we offer Sunday School classes for all ages at 9:00 a.m., with multiple classrooms and a nursery available. Our Sunday worship service begins at 10:15 a.m.

Children in 4-year-old preschool through 4th grade are invited to participate in Junior Church during the worship service. Throughout the year, worship may include our Praise Team, Choir, Bell Choir, Worship Dancers, and special guests, providing a variety of ways to experience and celebrate God’s presence.

Our church facility is also handicap accessible, helping make worship and fellowship welcoming to all.

Children & Family Ministries

Our Preschool and After-School Programs serve more than 50 children and are valued and supported by families throughout our community. These programs provide children with a safe, caring, and nurturing Christian environment where they can learn, grow, and build relationships.

Our Community

Wesleyville Borough, with a population of approximately 3,200, is located in northwestern Pennsylvania near Lake Erie and the City of Erie. Surrounded by small communities and beautiful natural resources, the area offers a wide variety of activities and attractions for people of all ages.

Our Baptist Beliefs

Faith is at the heart of everything we do at Wesleyville Baptist Church. It shapes our worship, our ministries, our gatherings, and the way we serve one another and our community.

We believe in Jesus Christ and strive to let His love and goodness guide our words, actions, and relationships. In all that we do, our desire is to reflect the love of Christ and share it with others.

Our Community

Wesleyville Baptist Church is a welcoming congregation of approximately 150 members, offering opportunities to worship, grow, serve, and connect throughout the week.

In addition to our Sunday worship service, we offer a variety of Bible studies, small groups, and fellowship opportunities designed to help people build relationships and grow in their faith.

We strive to be an inclusive and welcoming faith community where people from all walks of life can feel comfortable, valued, and encouraged as we worship, serve, and grow together.

Meet Our Pastor

Wesleyville Baptist Church is blessed to be led by Pastor Shane L. Thompson, who joined us as Pastor in September 2025. Pastor Shane brings with him not only years of experience in leadership and ministry, but also a deep passion for helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Shane’s spiritual journey has been one of faith, perseverance, and God’s calling. After more than 25 years of dedication, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Theology at Gannon University, a milestone that reflects both his commitment to learning and his love for God’s Word. Before answering the call to full-time pastoral ministry, Shane served faithfully in leadership and human resources roles, equipping him with the skills to guide, support, and encourage people both inside and outside the church.

Shane is married to Angela, and together they share a joyful life filled with love, laughter, and their two doodles, Bella and Lulu. As a couple, they are passionate about building community, serving others, and sharing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ with the world.

Pastor Shane’s philosophy of ministry is simple yet powerful:

  1. His first priority is his relationship with God.
  2. His second is his family, which he treasures as a gift from God.
  3. His third is the church, which he loves and serves wholeheartedly.

He believes that if these priorities are kept in order, God will bless the ministry and the people it touches. Pastor Shane often reminds us that this is not a solo ministry—he cannot do it alone. He needs, and invites, every person in the church family to be fully invested in the work Jesus has called us to do together.

Whether through preaching, teaching, counseling, or community outreach, Pastor Shane seeks to point people toward Christ, encouraging us all to live with authentic faith and generous love.

Meet Our Team

Youth Fellowship

Growing in Faith

Youth is a unique and exciting season of life—filled with exploration, discovery, questions, and growth. At Wesleyville Baptist Church, we provide a loving and nurturing environment where young people can explore who they are, build meaningful relationships, and discover their place in the world.

Through faith, fellowship, and engaging opportunities, we encourage young people to ask questions, grow in confidence, and develop a strong foundation in Christ.

WBC is a place where young people can be themselves, grow in faith, and discover all that God has planned for them.

WBC YOUTH

Adult Fellowship

Our adult fellowship and small groups provide opportunities to dig deeper into God’s Word, build meaningful relationships, and grow together as followers of Jesus Christ.

Adults with similar ages, interests, and life experiences gather for interactive Bible studies, Sunday School, fellowship, and ministry. These groups are designed to encourage spiritual growth while creating a welcoming place to connect with others.

Whether you’re single, married, young, or a senior adult, there’s a place for you at WBC.

Come connect. Grow in faith. Serve together. Find your place at Wesleyville Baptist Church.
