Who We Are
Wesleyville Baptist Church is an American Baptist Church located in the borough of Wesleyville in Erie County, Pennsylvania. The church was founded in 1890 and has a strong history within the community. Our congregation includes a strong network of members who assist in supporting the vision and initiatives throughout the church. Locally, Wesleyville Baptist Church has a strong heritage and is well respected within the community.
Each Sunday, we hold Sunday school classes, with multiple classrooms and a nursery, for all ages at 9:00 AM followed by worship service at 10:15 AM. We offer a Junior Church during the service for children ages 4 through 6th grade. During worship service there are also the Praise Team, Choir, Bell Choir, Worship Dancers, and/or guests that provide additional opportunities of worship. Additionally, our church is handicap accessible.
We have a well-known preschool and after school program, of 50+ children, that is supported and sought out within our community. Monthly Family Nights, between August through April, are held which include a meal for those that gather and a game or activity to engage both our members and non-members within our community; average attendance ranges between 50-60 per event.
Wesleyville Borough (pop. 3,200) is in northwest Pennsylvania. The area is located right next to Lake Erie, the city of Erie and several small towns. There are a wide range of activities available throughout the year that make our area appealing to those of all ages and is a great location to live and raise a family. Our Baptist Beliefs
Faith is the cornerstone of our church. It is part of every activity that we do, every meeting that we hold. We believe in our Lord Jesus and that our actions are a reflection of his goodness.
Our Community
Wesleyville Baptist Church is a congregation of about 150 members. In addition to Sunday Worship, we have a number of study and fellowship opportunities. We work especially hard at being an inclusive faith community where persons from all walks of life feel comfortable worshiping and working together!
Meet Our Pastor
Pastor David Sherwood is an encourager. The spirit of humility he walks in with regard to the circumstances he's overcome in his own life provides a trusting environment where hard hearts are softened, lives are changed, and Jesus is glorified.
Dave has been on many mission trips to 19 countries, to include Romania, Bulgaria, Trinidad & Tobago, Brazil and more. A man after God's heart, Dave Sherwood loves to give to those who have nothing to give back. He's worked side by side with missionaries and missions teams to help build schools, churches, and homes. Dave is an evangelist and has participated in many revivals overseas leading thousands to Jesus Christ.
Dave pulls from his own life experiences:
- Living in Foster Care
- Losing both of his parents
- Dealing with his personal anger during period of rebellion, which included drugs and alcohol
- Struggling through a life-threatening motorcycle accident
- Calling on the Lord to take control of his out-of-control life
During these hardships, Dave became determined to take all that negativity within and turn it into something great, no just turning his own life around, but motivating others to do the same. Dave's heart is to help people of all ages understand anything is possible through a life in Jesus Christ.
Pastor David Sherwood is a two-time gold medalist in martial arts. He is National Champion in power lifting and arm wrestling. Known for his motivational speaking and presenting the Gospel. He is the found of U-R-Fully-Equipped Ministries and has been a member of the world-renowned Power Team for many years.

Youth is a unique period of life, one filled with exploration, discovery, excitement and fulfillment. WBC provides a nurturing, loving environment for young people exploring the world. It is a safe place where faith guides exploration and self-discovery.
Adult Fellowship
Adult Fellowship provides us the opportunity to dig deeper into God’s word together and better equip us as we become developing, mature disciples for Jesus Christ.
Adults of similar ages, interests, and/or family dynamics meet for interactive Bible studies and Sunday School where we connect for fellowship and ministry. Whether you are single, married, young, or a senior adult – WBC has a group just for you!
