Who We Are
Wesleyville Baptist Church is an American Baptist Church located in the borough of Wesleyville in Erie County, Pennsylvania. The church was founded in 1890 and has a strong history within the community. Our congregation includes a strong network of members who assist in supporting the vision and initiatives throughout the church. Locally, Wesleyville Baptist Church has a strong heritage and is well respected within the community.
Each Sunday, we hold Sunday school classes, with multiple classrooms and a nursery, for all ages at 9:00 AM followed by worship service at 10:15 AM. We offer a Junior Church during the service for children ages 4 through 6th grade. During worship service there are also the Praise Team, Choir, Bell Choir, Worship Dancers, and/or guests that provide additional opportunities of worship. Additionally, our church is handicap accessible.
We have a well-known preschool and after school program, of 50+ children, that is supported and sought out within our community. Monthly Family Nights, between August through April, are held which include a meal for those that gather and a game or activity to engage both our members and non-members within our community; average attendance ranges between 50-60+ per event.
Wesleyville Borough (pop. 3,200) is in northwest Pennsylvania. The area is located right next to Lake Erie, the city of Erie and several small towns. There are a wide range of activities available throughout the year that make our area appealing to those of all ages and is a great location to live and raise a family. Our Baptist Beliefs
Faith is the cornerstone of our church. It is part of every activity that we do, every meeting that we hold. We believe in our Lord Jesus and that our actions are a reflection of his goodness.
Our Community
Wesleyville Baptist Church is a congregation of about 150 members. In addition to Sunday Worship, we have a number of study and fellowship opportunities. We work especially hard at being an inclusive faith community where persons from all walks of life feel comfortable worshiping and working together!
Meet Our Pastor
Wesleyville Baptist Church is blessed to be led by Pastor Shane L. Thompson, who joined us as Pastor in September 2025. Pastor Shane brings with him not only years of experience in leadership and ministry, but also a deep passion for helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Shane’s spiritual journey has been one of faith, perseverance, and God’s calling. After more than 25 years of dedication, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Theology at Gannon University, a milestone that reflects both his commitment to learning and his love for God’s Word. Before answering the call to full-time pastoral ministry, Shane served faithfully in leadership and human resources roles, equipping him with the skills to guide, support, and encourage people both inside and outside the church.
Shane is married to Angela, and together they share a joyful life filled with love, laughter, and their two doodles, Bella and Lulu. As a couple, they are passionate about building community, serving others, and sharing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ with the world.
Pastor Shane’s philosophy of ministry is simple yet powerful:
- His first priority is his relationship with God.
- His second is his family, which he treasures as a gift from God.
- His third is the church, which he loves and serves wholeheartedly.
He believes that if these priorities are kept in order, God will bless the ministry and the people it touches. Pastor Shane often reminds us that this is not a solo ministry—he cannot do it alone. He needs, and invites, every person in the church family to be fully invested in the work Jesus has called us to do together.
Whether through preaching, teaching, counseling, or community outreach, Pastor Shane seeks to point people toward Christ, encouraging us all to live with authentic faith and generous love.

Youth Fellowship
Youth is a unique period of life, one filled with exploration, discovery, excitement and fulfillment. WBC provides a nurturing, loving environment for young people exploring the world. It is a safe place where faith guides exploration and self-discovery.
Adult Fellowship
Adult Fellowship provides us the opportunity to dig deeper into God’s word together and better equip us as we become developing, mature disciples for Jesus Christ.
Adults of similar ages, interests, and/or family dynamics meet for interactive Bible studies and Sunday School where we connect for fellowship and ministry. Whether you are single, married, young, or a senior adult – WBC has a group just for you!
